Systems IV CTII Description
The Systems IV ChillTech II Exclusive Heat Exchanger is a simple device that leverages the laws of thermodynamics in your favor. With this product, your commercial ice machine will increase its ice-making capacity by 20% and lower its power consumption by 20%. This device doesn’t use any chemicals, electricity or gas.
So, how does it work?
Normally, water coming into your ice machine might be anywhere between 45F° and 65F° and can be much higher depending on your location and the time of year. Your ice machine needs to lower the temperature of that water to below 32F° for it to freeze. The cooler the temperature of the water coming in the easier and quicker it will be for your ice machine to do its job.
The ChillTech II cools the warm potable intake water to your ice machine with the cold wastewater coming from your ice machine’s drain line. It’s that simple. Cold wastewater enters the unit and fills the cavity and exits the unit and empties into the drain. Inside that cavity is a coiled line that the potable intake water passes through and into your ice maker. The heat from the intake water is lost to the wastewater flowing around the coil and leaves it much colder before entering your ice machine.
Aside from the benefits of lowering power consumption and increasing ice production (up to 2,400 lbs/day with a cuber and up to 1,800 lbs/day with a Hoshizaki model), this will also lower the ambient temperature around your ice maker since it has less heat to remove from the water it’s freezing.
Coming in at 4-¾ inches in diameter and 26-½ inches long the ChillTech II is easy to integrate into your operations. To simplify installation a mounting bracket and 2 pieces of clear tubing are included. Potable water is taken into the unit through a ½” pipe with male threads. Cooled potable water exits the unit and enters the ice maker with a ½” NPT fitting. Cool wastewater from the ice machine enters the unit through a ¾” slip and exits through another ¾” slip.
The maximum intake temperature for this unit is 100F° with a maximum water pressure of 125 PSI and a flow rate of 5.5 GPM.
The Systems IV ChillTech II Exclusive Heat Exchanger has a two-year warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship.
